The South Maroubra rock pools are two small rings of rock at the southern end of Maroubra Beach, reportedly made by the Maroubra surf club in the 1920s. They are free and best at mid tide on a calm day.

What it's like
These are simple ring-of-rock pools on the shore, not built pools with walls and floors. At high tide they are hard to see, and at low tide they can be too shallow to swim, so mid tide is the sweet spot. They are quiet and mostly used by locals.
When to go
Mid tide on a calm day.
Getting there and facilities
Walk to the southern end of Maroubra Beach. Toilets, showers and cafes are along the Maroubra beachfront.
Good to know
These pools are not on Randwick Council's list of its ocean pools, so they are not cleaned or maintained. Maroubra Beach is patrolled in season.
